acting my age

My niece, aged-14 and stepdaughter, aged-10 are sitting with my son while he watches Diego. They are making fun of the show and I am getting angry. I know concerns about him having poor self-esteem and second guessing himself and wanting to conform to the crowd are probably unfounded....woh: I stepped away two minutes and said something snide and dysregulated to the girls. This happened in spite of my struggling to keep my cool and act like an adult. Now I am ashamed of myself. Just like it's not fair for pre-teens to pick on a three-year-old, it's also not right for a 38-year-old to pick on two adolescent girls. Next time I'm going to try to struggle less and draw more on mindful observance of my feelings. I'll let you know how that goes.
